The Truth About...

What you are about to read may disturb you. You have been warned.

...Chickens

Chickens are the most abused animal on the face of the Earth. Battery chickens are stored 4 in a box, with no room to even stretch their wings. Many are driven mad in these cramped comditions. They are de-beaked, meaning their beaks are sliced off with a burning knife - this process usually takes the tongue and/or front of the nostrils with it. This is done so that the birds cannot peck each other although many die from being trampled or not being able to reach their feed tray. They are the lucky ones. Chickens who do survive have a worse fate. They are tied by their feet with a thin wire or metal clamps to a convayor. They hang together until their throats are slit. Think about what goes into your next KFC meal - it doesn't seem so appitising now does it?

...Cows

Dairy cows are milked not with caring hands of the farmers wife, making butter for her childrens lunch sandwiches, but by metal tubes which suck the milk from her udders. True, cows need to be milked because it is cruel to leave them with the swelling bags of liquid between their legs but they would not need to be if they still had their calves. Newborn calves are taken from their mothers only a day or two after birth. After the cows are stripped of their babies they still produce milk for humans to steal.  Some of the calves slaughtered immediately, some are sent for veal. Veal calves are kept in tiny crates only about the size of your kitchen table, often smaller. They have no room to turn round and legs often collapse from lack of excercise. These calves are fed on milk long after they would usually have been weaned for that all important "succulent taste". Veal crates are illegal in Britain but that does not stop the importation of the meat. Fighting bulls have a different story to tell. Each year, over 100 bulls are slaughtered in Barcelona's bullrings. In front of a cheering crowd, eight or more men use a variety of weapons to torture each bull before killing it. This is considered as "culture".

...Pigs

Piglets are born into a harsh and cruel world. They are seperated from their mother metal bars. These are to stop the sow accidentally squashing her piglets which would be inevitable considering the tiny spaces that she is crammed into. Young male pigs are castrated without any painkillers. They are either beaten to death or kicked to the incinerator to save slaughter house costs. Many are boiled alive in the scalding tanks designed for hair removal
